Air Intake Systems

Air intake systems are required to run an engine. This is because (air), fuel, and spark are needed to create combustion which powers the engine. The main components of the air intake system include the air filter, the intake boot(s), mass airflow sensor, throttle body, and idle control valve. Because of my cars age (20 years) I chose to replace the air filter and the intake boots. I removed and cleaned the other components thoroughly, including the mass airflow sensor, throttle body, and idle control valve. My idle control valve was so dirty that it was actually stuck in the open position. After cleaning and reinstalling it, the car idled and ran a lot smoother.
